At an Arkansas drywall plant producing 1,200 sq. ft. of drywall every minute, bearing failure was a constant battle. Fine gypsum powder worked its way past seals, causing bearings to seize and fail - sometimes in just three months. MI introduce great new solution for protecting Lazy Susan Casters. Initial results show greater than 500% increase in bearing life.
Tyson was replacing the 4” rigid casters on their Lazy Susan turntables approximately every 3 weeks. The replacement was due to washdown chemicals attacking the bearings inside the casters, causing them to fall apart internally and not continuing to roll.
A caster that Tyson had just replaced was passed to an MI engineer in August 2024. When the caster was removed from the frame the bearing fell apart. MI developed a solution using an Enviropeel coating to cover the bearing sides of the casters thus limiting the ingress of chemicals and water during the washdown times for clean up in the plant.

​These casters were still running at the time of this report, approximately 4 months later, in March 2025. Although there was some separation of the Enviropeel coating from the rubber on a couple of the casters, the material continued to protect the bearing from ingress, with approximately 5 changeouts saved for each coated bearing. Future installations may be revised in order to eliminate potential delamination, if necessary.
